Michael Ruby: Creative DirectorAs Creative Director, Michael oversees the day-to-day operations of SPBA’s award-winning creative services group, and provides leadership and strategic direction across the Agency’s accounts.
A copywriter by trade and a big conceptual thinker at heart, Michael excels at translating complex concepts into relevant, resonant ideas that bring brands’ stories to life in multi-channel marketing and advertising. Michael has also worked as an Account Planner with SPBA and continues to provide support in brand positioning and name development.
Michael has been instrumental in SPBA’s success since joining the Agency in 2003. His work across all channels has helped earn the Agency more than 120 awards over the past four years alone, including CEBA, ACE, Pro-Comm, B2 and BtoB Best awards. But perhaps his favorite accolade is, according to BtoB Magazine, the best use of the word “boo-yah” in a b-to-b ad ever.
In addition, Michael is a frequent judge for major creative awards competitions, and co-hosted the 2010 BMA ACE Awards. He also is one of the originators and founding members of BMA:FWD, the Business Marketing Association of NYC’s young marketing professional organization.
Outside the Agency, Michael is an acclaimed playwright and actor whose award-winning plays, musicals and songs have been performed across the United States and in England.
